How To Pick

  1. Ripe peaches are plump with a deep yellow background color with a nice dark red blush all the way up to the stem of the fruit.
Pick only the ripe peaches and leave the green peaches to ripen for a later day.
  2. Ripe peaches should be firm to the touch and will soften once picked and left at room temperature for a day or so.
  3. Pick with the palm of your hand (not so much your fingers) and give it a twist (you do not want to tug or pull) - ripe peaches should remove easily from the branch.
  4. All produce should be washed before eating at home. Please do not consume peaches in the field.
  5. Children must be under adult supervision at all times.
  6. When you get home… get the peaches out of the plastic bag and spread them out on your countertop with the stems facing down. Keep them 1-2 inches apart so they are not touching.
  7. If you want to speed up the softening process, put a couple of peaches in a brown paper bag and roll off the top to close the bag. Within 24-48 hours, you'll have perfectly softened peaches!
  8. Do not wash peaches until right before you are ready to eat them.
  9. No pets are allowed on the farm due to food safety guidelines.
  10. Only pick in the rows designated by Fifer staff for that particular day.

The peach tree rows mature at different times, so if you get in the wrong row, you will be getting immature peaches that will not ripen and don't taste good.
We work hard to keep Fifer Orchards clean and enjoyable. Please do not leave trash in the fields. Trash cans are available for your convenience.

Thank you for respecting our peach trees and treating our farm with care.

How To Pick

1. Pick a lane and stay in it. Don't step or walk on the black plastic raised beds and the strawberry plants. Walking to the far end of the patch makes for the easiest picking. The farther you walk, the better and easier the picking. The closest strawberry plants get picked over quickly, so don’t waste your time there. Keep walking until you see lots of red berries. It’s worth the walk!
2. Only pick FULLY RED strawberries. Do not pick strawberries with white tips. Size is not an important characteristic. Small red berries taste just as good as large red berries. Again, color is the most important quality to look for.
3. Do not pick strawberry flowers or green berries.
4. Take your time and choose your strawberries carefully. If you pick it, we ask that you put it in your bucket. Do not drop strawberries on the ground after they are picked off the plant.
5. Pick the berries by pinching the green stem between your index finger and your thumb.
6. Please do not overfill your container to where berries are falling on the ground. The weight of overfilled containers crushes the berries at the bottom.
7. Get your strawberries home as quickly as possible and put them in the refrigerator to chill out.
8. Do not wash your strawberries until immediately before you want to eat them.

Thank your for respecting our strawberry fields and treating our farm with care.
